LITTER PLANS![]()

Our Breeding Philosophy:
To produce great dogs, you must start with great dogs! But more importantly you cannot simply put two good dogs together and expect to create good dogs. Clearly understood by German breeders, you must create your line and stay true to improving just this line by selecting choice specimens of the same mother line and ignoring outcrosses.
With good comes the bad and you must never expect only the good to show up. You must choose dogs within a line breeding parameter or Homozygosity spectrum to create any good “line” of dogs. In other words to recreate quality after quality litter you must constantly improve, narrowing faults and amplifying strengths within a centralized breed program. The risk in not getting what you are seeking is far greater by guessing what two nice dogs “might” produce when you can improve by line breeding known quality to known quality within a mother line program and more likely produce the desired results.
Dogs have more genes than humans…thousands of genes to produce a single dog. All canine genes are passed down in pairs, one pair from the mother and one from the father. If the genes are identical they are called Homozygous. If they are not, they are called Heterozygous. The Homozygous genes make a shorthair true to type. Heterozygous genes control coat thickness, color, size, nose, etc. within the shorthair world as a whole…the stuff that makes them a shorthair.
Line breeding concentrates the Homozygous genes of ancestors, numerically calculated by their presence (how many times they appear) in a pedigree. When they show up again and again, Homozygosity for that animals characteristics greatly increase in their offspring. Homozygosity improves the chances that the pups will inherit the desired traits of those ancestors…IE: better genes multiple times equal better pups!
Then the best of the best must be picked to once again pass the “chosen” traits down the line. This slowly produces pups that become more similar within the litter itself. Even though other breeding of the same or similar lines may show less similarity’s in the pups as a whole do to using “weaker” (less of desired traits) dogs.
In other words, the breeding of the same “lines” are still different based on the lack of Homozygous characteristics from one dog to another. So how do you “fix” this?? …A breeder who stays with his line long enough to rid the line of undesirable traits by choosing which specimens within their line are to be used for breeding until the “ugly” genes are few and far between and will rarely show up.
So great dogs line bred to great dogs creates--great pups. Each litter has exceptional dogs…rebreeding only the exceptional creates a strong line. Pedigrees are nice to look, at but what the breeder does with the “line” you get to live with for many years.
We’ll gladly live with any of our breeding, and are willing to bet you would too. Our program did not happen by accident and neither should the pup you choose. We and you deserve quality dogs. That is what we produce.
Reservations and deposits now being taken!! Now for the bad news….. It can take 12-16 months on a waiting list in some cases to secure a spot for these breeding.

Tango-Sire
Int. CH VC Sharp Shooters Prairie Dancer MH
Versatile Champion AKC Master Hunter UT Prize 1 201 pts. NA Prize 1 112 pts.
From Clyde & Marilyn Vetter of Sharpshooters Kennel (WI): Little
did we know when we chose Tango's name, how well it would suit him. His
movements are not only quick and precise, but his impeccable conformation
allows him to move through a field with grace and style. He is an absolute
joy to watch. Our
intent when we matched Tango's parents was to produce dogs with intense
points, medium to large range in the field with strong water love and
sound conformation. The litter met and exceeded all of our aspirations as
it is a Natural Ability and Utility Breeder Award litter. The pedigrees of
the parents and their ancestors speak volumes about what these dogs have
to offer. Tango's prey drive is his overriding asset. That, combined with an excellent nose, make for great days in the field and marsh. Tango's exuberance for life is infectious but yet he is a mild-mannered and affectionate house dog. His pups have inherited his spirit, drive and stellar looks. We have high hopes for Tango and his offspring as he has already produced three Natural Ability Breeder Award litters and a Utility Breeder Award litter.

Belle-Dam
Born Ranch's Outlaw Girl " BELLE"
NBDCA NATIONALS QUALIFIER AKC Hunt Tested - In preparation for UT testing
From John and Annette Hart of Outlaw Gundogs Kennel (CO): Belle is our rebel girl. She constantly walks on the edge! Belle has absolutely the strongest prey drive we have ever witnessed. Obsessed is an understatement when it comes to birds and her nose is dynamite. This gal can flat run and fast, fast, fast!
She can take training with a grain of salt and once she's broke she just might be out next field trial masterpiece. She will be used as a brood bitch to produce dogs for competition homes.
